Whitton School Visit
Curbridge
welcomes 35 students from Whitton School and Sports College,
Twickenham to the Village on Wednesday 21st June. They are basing
their GCSE coursework on Curbridge. Their teacher Sadie McGowan
(an ex Village resident) said :-
"As with me (a few)
years ago, they are investigating the impact that counter-urbanisation
has had on Curbridge. It was very interesting for them to see first-hand
gentrified barns and large rural developments. I also think the lack of
services present in a village was an eye-opener for them, and obviously the
decline in rural services is as a direct result of counter-urbanisation and
increased car ownership. We are also looking at the potential impact of the
proposed 800 new homes in North Curbridge"
"Hopefully you will be hearing positive rumours from the Kitch.... but our
fieldtrip was VERY successful. Not always the easiest of places to bring 35
- 15 year old city dwellers, but I feel their behaviour was impeccable and
they have all worked really hard to get the information they require."
"They thoroughly enjoyed their meal at the Kitch. They were starving by the
time we got there and I am pretty certain it was clean plates all round!"
"Attached are some photos that you may wish to use on the site. Some
residents saw them filling in information on clipboards and am sure they
wondered what was going on!"
